SUMMARY

The Accountant is an entry to a mid-level position responsible for assisting the finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Responsible for month-end closing procedures, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports. Assist with balance sheet reconciliations as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
• Review and analyze data relating to prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, job costing and revenue recognition for contracts.
• Report to the accounting manager on the finances of the organization.
• Establish records of accounts and input entries into proper accounts.
• Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
• Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel.
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred education and experience.

• Associate/Bachelor's degree in accounting or an equivalent number of years of experience.
• CPA certificate.
• 2-5 years experience in the accounting field
• Prefer auditing experience in Big 5.
• Strong knowledge of functions in Excel.
• Knowledge and experience with dual-entry accounting, journal entries, and account reconciliation
