Accountant

Contract Type: W2 with basic health benefits

Client Industry: Public Sector/Education

Duration - 12 months, possible extension

Pay Rate - $40.12/hr -44.88/hr

Worksite location: Garden City, NY

Work Hours: 35 hours/week, 8:00-3:30 or 8:30 - 4PM, M-F (with some schedule flexibility)

100% Onsite Required

Overview:

Performs professional accounting functions in accordance with established procedures and regulations; performs related duties as required. Under general direction, the duties require the use of independent judgment in following prescribed procedures in performing financial account keeping functions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Strong Excel experience
Data Manipulation
Knowledge/Experience with Budget, Debits & Credits - modern methods used in keeping and checking financial records and reports.
Thorough knowledge of office terminology, procedures, equipment, business arithmetic and English.
Ability to solve account-keeping problems.
Ability to make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately.
Ability to prepare correspondence and reports.
Ability to perform detailed work rapidly and accurately.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Expert Excel, Macros
Accounting experience in the Education Sector
Financial Analysis

TYPICAL DUTIES
Performs professional accounting functions as directed.
Assists in the preparation of financial reports.
Assists in the preparation of budgets.

MINIMUM QUAILIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience including maintenance of financial accounts

Professional accounting experience may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years.

PREFERRED
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with, either:
Major course work in accounting or completion of at least 24 credits in accounting.
