About the Job
Olympia Food Industries is looking to hire an Accountant to the administrative office staff. This is regularly an 8-hour shift from about 7:00am – 3:30pm, regularly from Monday to Friday, with a 1-hour break. When required, there will be times when extended hours will be necessary. This is a salary position that begins at 85,000.00 a year. This starting pay may be negotiable dependent on applicant’s strong knowledge, experience, resume & references. Olympia Food Industries is a family-owned company which produces Greek & ethnic meats, flatbreads, sauces, & other products for restaurants & venues. The facility is an SQF Level 2 food processing facility with a USDA office on site.
Summary
The Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, analyzing, & interpreting financial data, monitoring budgets, and keeping accurate records of company expenses. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and have excellent analytical skills. The Accountant is also expected to work together with others to maintain clean & safe working conditions.
Staff Accountant Job Description:
· Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing and adjusting journal entries
· Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
· Maintaining general ledger charts of accounts
· Assisting with internal control evaluations
· Posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals
· Assist HR with processing payroll through Paychex
· Assist with accounts payable and receivable, maintaining payroll including commissions and payment of bills.
· Preform month-end close.
· Preparing financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements.
· Ensuring that financial records are accurate and compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
· Generating financial reports and providing insights into business performance
· Analyzing financial data and making recommendations for improvement of financial performance
· Handling day-to-day accounting tasks such as accounts payables and receivables, cash disbursement, and journal entries
· Reconciling bank statements and credit accounts
· Managing budgets and monitoring expenses
· Preparing and filing tax returns for federal, state, and local governments
· Assisting in the preparation of audits and providing necessary documentation
· Maintaining confidentiality and security of financial information
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· At least 3 years of focused accounting & ledger experience.
· Strong understanding of GAAP and other financial regulations
· CPA, EA, or CPA eligible preferred
· Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
· Proficiency in using accounting software
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word & Excel
· Ability to work independently & in a team atmosphere
· Relevant work experience in accounting or related field
· Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other teams
· Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines

Working Conditions:
This position requires work in an office environment and may require working long hours during peak times like the end of the financial year or during audits.
