Salary Range: $65,000 $70,000 based on experience
Position Overview: The Staff Accountant/Credit Manager will be responsible for overseeing Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Collections. This position plays an active role in the timely recording of transactions. The Staff Accountant/Credit Manager will also work closely with the Director of Finance in designing and implementing metal hedging strategies for commodity exposure.
Responsibilities:
Daily (80%):
- Effectively partner with the sales team regarding customer accounts and keeping them abreast of the status of concerning accounts.
- Handle incoming phone calls and emails from customers to accept payments and resolve credit-related issues. Involves decision-making on managing past due accounts, responding to billing questions, and reconciliation of accounting records with customers.
- Collect past due amounts and negotiate payment plans for customer accounts
- Process ACH, Wires, and check payments. Process new accounts and established accounts for customers seeking credit. Review current Net 30 accounts for limit adjustments as needed.
- Post checks received in mail to customer accounts and post lockbox receipts to customer accounts in accounting software.
- Assist customers with account inquiries via phone.
- In charge of our credit card processing current system, US Trans.
- Runs credit reports and establishes credit limits and terms for customers.
- Monitors metal positions that are hedged, identifying and accessing financial risks, including market fluctuations in metal markets, interest rate changes, and potential legal or compliance issues.
- Assisting with the design and implementation of hedging strategies, interest rates, and commodity exposures.
Weekly (10%):
- The Staff Accountant/Credit Manager is responsible for supporting the sales team and managing the collection of past due amounts for customers.
- Issue demand letters for overdue accounts and collect outstanding balances. Determine when to escalate account to outside collections.
- Work with Accounts Payable staff with requests to print checks, match checks to vouchers, and mail payments for customers.
- Review A/R Aging statements for outstanding balances.
- Assist Director of Finance & Accounting with other duties assigned.
Monthly (10%):
- Develop strategies to mitigate financial risks, including hedging strategies, insurance, and diversification.
- Monitor financial risk policies and make adjustments based on evolving business conditions or external factors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other training.
- Experience with hedge funds, commodities markets and trading strategies a plus.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a timely and independent manner.
- Experience in customer service. Able to professionally communicate with customers over the phone.
- Must be reliable and punctual. Consistently works 40 hours per week. Works the majority of the time independently apart from a few questions and clarifications needed.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Able to voice opinions and ideas when problem-solving to formulate the best path forward.
- Excellent computer skills in Windows, Office, directory navigation, and file management required.
- Ability to learn, understand and adhere to established policies and procedures. Showcases understanding of established policies and procedures by consistently adhering to them.
- Maintains high ethics. Is respectful and honest. Is caring, friendly and willing to share knowledge and expertise.
- Experience in accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus.
