Overview:Corporate Accountant Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm (Hybrid: Tues & Wed in Melville office)
Primarily responsible for the preparation and analysis of monthly closing journal entries. Evaluate transactions and record to the general ledger to ensure financial data is complete and accurate. Responsible for the completion of balance sheet account reconciliations and income statement analysis. Support senior staff and management on department initiatives.
- Close books for assigned business unit(s). Analyze transactions by comparing historic trending and current year budget to actual results.
- Evaluate transactions and record adjustments to the general ledger, as necessary to ensure financial results are accurate and complete and in accordance with USGAAP.
- Complete general accounting activities including payroll expenses, prepaid expenses, accruals, bank reconciliations and allocations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare detailed expense analysis comparing actual results to budget and prior periods. Communicate results with assigned team(s) and address/solve any issues that may arise. Provide commentary for significant fluctuations.
- Complete ad-hoc projects including, but not limited to, accounting research, analysis and process improvements.
- Demonstrate an understanding of various accounting processes and identify root causes and areas for improvement.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; and 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPA a plus
- Analytical, written and communication skills, and ability to multi-task
- Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in standardized and non-standardized situations
- Ability to respond to inquiries from employees and management
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
