Immediate contract opportunity for an Accountant with direct client in Manhattan, NY.

Trigyn's direct government client has an immediate need for an Accountant in Manhattan, NY.

Description:
The client is seeking an experienced Accountant in the General Ledger Department. Under general supervision of the Director/Deputy Director. The Accountant duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

• Maintain monthly General Ledger accounts database for comparative analysis.
• Prepare monthly trial balance, balance sheet and supporting schedules.
• Prepare Income and Expense Statement.
• Assist in preparing monthly cash flow reports for management to assess timing, amount and predictability of future cash flows.
• Prepare monthly reserve schedule and perform reserve analysis.
• Prepare and submit Financial Data Schedule to the Department of Housing and Urban Development HUD) Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) to meet legislature deadline.
• Prepare PHA Financial Indicators to assess the financial condition of the client.
• Work with central office departments to develop mechanism for charging centrally provided services to the projects that meet HUD reasonableness standards
• Maintains knowledge of HUD asset management guidelines by monitoring updates in the HUD asset management website, attending meetings with HUD representatives, and attending applicable training courses.
• Review current accounting procedures and policies; recommend updates and improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Education and Experience Preferred:
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 24 credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting, auditing, and cost accounting and two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.

Skills:
• Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and a professional team player who can manage multiple tasks.
• Candidate should be a highly motivated, accountable and organized self-starter.
• Ability to work independently and initiative to identify issues and resolve problems.
• Strong accounting and financial analysis background.
• Strong background in coordinating, organizing and analyzing detailed financial reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
