Position Summary:
- Assist with the maintenance and execution of accounting standards, processes, and requirements.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of agency accounting systems and software tools, including DAI, DAR-Q, DDRS, ADVANA, WAWF, G-Invoicing, IPAC, EDA, and DCAS.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure access to required government systems and software for task completion.
- Produce and review specified reports to ensure transactions are posted accurately, timely, and completely in relevant systems.
- Analyze and interpret accounting data to provide actionable insights.
- Perform financial reconciliations and deliver detailed reports to aid in planning, policy formulation, and performance evaluation.
- Collect, monitor, and analyze obligation/expenditure data from official records.
- Resolve 20-50 weekly problem disbursements and support quarterly research.
- Assist with accounts payable accrual processes to ensure compliance with federal accounting standards.
- Record and estimate expenses based on the accrual framework, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or a related field (required).
- 5-10 years of Department of Defense (DoD) accounting experience, with a strong understanding of DoD financial management practices.
- Proficiency with the DAI accounting system and other Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) systems, such as the Defense Departmental Reporting System-Budgetary (DDRS-B) and the Defense Departmental Reporting System (DDRS).
- Experience with the US Standard General Ledger (USSGL) and the ability to produce, analyze, and interpret reports.
- Proven expertise in identifying and resolving anomalies in accounting data and reports
- Must hold one of the following certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred).
- Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
- Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM).
- Equivalent certification (with proof of equivalency).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in preparing, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal accounting standards and DoD financial processes.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
