HJF is seeking a Scientific Project Manager II who provides scientific and technical expertise and supervises research projects and oversees strategic planning activities, organization and tracking of adjuvant portfolio, pre-clinical and clinical collaborations and contracts across multidisciplinary programs. Assists in developing protocols, and evaluates and provides strategic and comprehensive solutions to problems in major functional areas.This position has autonomy with clearly defined tasks, making independent decisions based on general guidance.This position will be in support of Global Infectious Diseases portfolio.

 Note: This site requires that non U.S. Citizens reside in the United States for three of the five recent years. 

Responsibilities

• Manage operational elements of one or more individual projects. Document project scope and plan, confirming objectives, technologies, schedules, milestones and deadlines, funding, and available resources with key stakeholders. Produce and distribute project status reports and documents.
• Communicate and collaborate with others, including but not limited to project team members, management and other key stakeholders about project requirements and objectives. Document and evaluate existing processes, procedures and guidelines making recommendations for enhancements and improvements as appropriate. Obtain approval for out-of-scope modifications.
• Provide scientific input into complex research and development activities along a focused line of inquiry, having first authorship on a peer-reviewed publication, and good scientific background in the infectious diseases and or vaccine field.

• Manages the scientific aspects of a complex portfolio of adjuvants and vaccines. Interfaces the development of complex pre-clinical vaccine adjuvant research activities through process development for subsequent clinical trials.

• Oversees strategic planning efforts. Works with project stakeholders, serves as the main point of contact and liaison, and tracks progress to ensure detailed scientific and technical requirements are met to ensure success in the program.
• Assists and supports pre-clinical and clinical studies involving vaccine-adjuvant formulations, provides scientific input for documents, research agreements, manuscripts, study reports, and presentations. Monitors scientific literature.
• Organizes data and ensures informational flow and communication between the various entities. Assists in developing protocols and agreements with internal and external entities.
• Oversees the production and provides guidance to junior staff on shipping of research grade adjuvants to collaborators. Interacts with regulatory personnel and ensures that deadlines are met.
• Monitors scientific literature and communicates scientific outcomes at meetings.
• Monitor project costs incurred.  Prepare and maintain project budget and related reports.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree required. PhD preferred in Virology or Immunology.
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of HIV-1 or infectious diseases, vaccines and /or adjuvants.

• Ability to multitask. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems. Ability to work independently or as a team member.

• Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet tight deadlines for multiple projects.

• Experience in engaging and managing studies having multiple collaborators and partners.

• Be well versed in using different software such as Microsoft office,  Box, Teams, Graph Pad Prism, EndNote, and Smart sheet.

• Should have peer-reviewed scientific publications in the infectious disease field, 3 years related experience in scientific projects.
• Ability to communicate clearly, work well with others, identify and resolve problems, and deliver results as a team.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to meet deadlines.

Work Environment

• This position will take place primarily in a laboratory setting.

Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required.
