We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Account Representative to join our team. In
this role, you will be responsible for contacting patients to obtain current insurance information
associated with denied claims, helping patients understand their financial obligations, and developing
suitable payment plans. Your primary goal will be to ensure the prompt and accurate collection of self-
pay balances while delivering exceptional customer service to patients.
**Responsibilities:**
1. **Educate Patients on Financial Responsibilities:** Ensure that patients are well-
informed about their financial obligations, which may include explaining their insurance
coverage, deductibles, co-pays, and self-pay options. This helps patients understand
the financial aspect of their healthcare.
2. **Address Coverage Denials:** When insurance claims are denied, proactively
contact patients to obtain updated insurance information and address the reasons for
denial. This helps in maximizing insurance coverage and minimizing patient financial
burdens.
3. **Explain Medical Bills:** Assist patients in understanding their medical bills by
breaking down charges and resolving any billing or insurance-related inquiries. Patients
should have clarity about the services they received and their associated costs.
4. **Customized Payment Plans:** Evaluate each patient's financial situation individually
and create tailored payment plans in accordance with established guidelines. This
approach helps patients manage their bills effectively while ensuring revenue for the
healthcare provider.
5. **Self-Pay Payment Processing:** Accurately collect and process self-pay payments
from patients, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures. This includes
providing receipts and maintaining transparency in financial transactions.
6. **Insurance Coordination:** Collaborate with insurance companies and third-party
payers to verify coverage details and address any payment discrepancies. This helps in
facilitating smooth financial transactions and resolving payment-related issues promptly.
7. **Record Keeping:** Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient accounts,
payments, and collections in the billing system. Proper record-keeping is crucial for
financial tracking, auditing, and compliance purposes.
8. Follow-Up on Outstanding Balances: Continuously follow up with patients
regarding outstanding balances by sending invoices, reminders, and offering payment
options. This ensures that payments are received in a timely manner.
9. Exceptional Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by
addressing patient concerns and resolving issues professionally and promptly. Good
communication and customer service skills are essential in maintaining patient
satisfaction.
10. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as
the billing department and patient services, to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associates or bachelors degree in a related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the healthcare industry.
