Growing together.The Account Director functions as a key leader within the account team for Optum’s most significant partnerships with provider systems.
Working in close collaboration with the Client Relationship Executive (CRE) and other account team members you will serve as the primary point of contact to the client, and Optum internal operations and shared services teams, for performance and delivery across a broad range of services including some combination of revenue cycle management, enterprise analytics, care transformation, growth and market disruption, and information technology.

Primary Responsibilities:Regularly interact with the corresponding client’s Performance Delivery Lead to communicate overall performance of Optum services and collaborate on key client needsProactively identify risks, issues and opportunities related to the Optum/client partnership and develop, communicate and implement program/project risk/issue management plans and strategies (e.g.
IRAAD management of issues, risks, action items, assumptions and decisions) with project team and stakeholdersWorking in close collaboration with Optum’s leads for individual services, manage Optum’s overall performance of its obligations across all services, including its performance of the services in compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)Co-Chair (with the client Performance Delivery Lead) the Joint Operations Committee (JOC) as defined in partnership governance, and regularly validate effectiveness of operational governance for each service Cooperate with client in administering all Statements of Work, including by facilitating Changes to be addressed through the Change Control Process and overseeing implementation of Changes agreed upon by the Parties through the Change Control ProcessProvide the primary client interface and escalation point to resolve issues raised by the client with respect to Optum’s performance of the services, and oversee remediation plans for underperformance Act as the primary liaison with the work management functions, including change management, project management, problem and risk management and management of any contractual or performance issuesMeet and discuss Optum’s performance requirements as they relate to client’s strategic business planning (e.g., business and architecture, strategic options, business assessment, business operating plans)Review, monitor and actively engage in the planning and implementation of Changes and Projects, including oversight and cohesiveness of transformation plans across all services Oversee Cost & Productivity initiatives across all services drive optimal financial performanceCoordinate with Optum shared services leaders to oversee quality and compliance for the overall partnershipCollaborate with Optum shared services leaders (Finance, Vendor Management, Compliance, Human Capital, etc.) in overall performance and management of the servicesOversee Optum’s administrative functions, including with respect to security (i.e., physical and logical), facilities and contractsYou’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:10+ years of experience in the Health Care industry5+ years of experience in managed services, including delivery and account management experiences, specifically with large account relationship managementExperience collaborating across a matrixed business and operations environmentExperience managing relationships and presenting to customersExperience working with project stakeholders/business leadership team and presenting project status reports on overall project outcomes and issuesSolid interpersonal skills with a mix of strategic and operational capabilitiesDemonstrated success building and evolving relationships with stakeholders (internal and external)Demonstrated self-starter with strong planning, organization, analytical and problem-solving skillsProven solid presentation, written and verbal communication skills, well-developed interpersonal skills including interaction with Director and VP level clientsDemonstrated ability to balance both the client’s and service provider’s objectives and priorities to achieve win-win outcomesWilling and able to travel up to 50% of the time to Owensboro, KY client location on a sustained basisFamiliarity with large outsourcing contracts and deliveryPreferred Qualifications:Direct experience working with clinical leadersExperiences with some combination of Analytics, Care Continuum Delivery, ITO and Revenue Cycle services for ProvidersIn-depth knowledge of Optum service delivery modelProven application of change management methodologiesLive in or around Owensboro, KY*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington, D.C.
Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually.
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc.
