****Preference will be given to candidates living in North Carolina. If the selected candidate is not located in North Carolina, the candidate will need to use their own equipment from home to remote into the worksite (PC set up in the organization).
It's expected that the Test Engineer/Jr. Systems Engineer will be available 8 hours during standard business hours, 8AM - 6PM M-F local time. This is technical and analytical work in designing, developing, implementing and supporting AASHTOWare Project (AWP) software for bidding, letting, certified payroll compliance, and market analysis data analytics, reports and dashboards for the NCDOT. This role works with business analysts and other technical staff to deliver required functionality for AWP Preconstruction and CRL modules to the NCDOT business customers in an agile environment. It is expected that this position will be needed for the next year or two. This is technical work with AWP and supports participating in a wide range of activities related to implementation and support including system administration, reporting, automated testing, configuration and interface development. This individual will work directly for the NCDIT-Transportation Letting and Compliance Systems (LCS) manager.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and experience clearly communicating with developers, product analyst, customers and managers
- Strong experience with automated testing tools and methods
- Ability to review and translate business user specifications/User Stories into Test Cases
- Ability to clearly explain technical issues and processes to team members, software vendors and potentially other DOT's, and manage testing support needed until issues are resolved or work-arounds are identified.
- Ability to work independently, managing own work task and deadlines, and coordinating team participation with others to complete testing assignments
- Ability to organize and manage a central repository of Test Cases, and ability to migrate existing MS Excel test documentation to a centralized tool
- experience working in a SCRUM software development and support team
- General knowledge of IT and software development best practices
- Familiarity with data models and ability to read them and research data relationships
- Knowledge of any of the following: MS Power Automate, SQL,C#, .NET, python, PowerShell, command line or similar, to automate task and make work more efficient.
- Strong experience using MS Azure DevOps, MS Teams, O365 applications, MS Office Suite applications, Visio, SharePoint, OneDrive
- General familiarity with change management processes in an enterprise, multi-stage environment (ServiceNow exp preferred or similar)
- Experience with Windows Server/Desktop maintenance including installing applications,analyzing application logs
- CloudServices experience like AWS or Azure
- Ability to work well in a virtual team
