Position Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the shipping and receiving department at Liberty Creative Solutions. This role ensures the efficient, accurate, and timely processing of all inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and managing a team of shipping and receiving personnel. The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics and inventory within the print industry, strong organizational skills, and a focus on customer satisfaction.
Position Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Team Leadership:
Lead, train, and supervise a team of shipping, receiving and inventory clerks.
Assign tasks and ensure that daily responsibilities in Production are conducted efficiently and on schedule.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective action as needed.
- Shipping Operations:
Responsible for the preparation, packaging, and dispatch of all outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
Coordinate with carriers to schedule pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring that shipments are completed on time.
Manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.
Update ERP system to be current and accurate.
Work closely with the production team to ensure that completed print jobs are ready for shipment as scheduled.
- Receiving Operations:
Supervise the receipt of incoming materials and supplies, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders.
Ensure that all received goods are accurately logged into the inventory system and properly stored.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to resolve any discrepancies or issues with received shipments.
- Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking and managing stock levels of shipping supplies.
Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and address any discrepancies.
Implement and maintain efficient inventory control processes to minimize waste and optimize storage space.
- Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all shipping and receiving activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shipping and receiving areas.
Train staff on proper safety procedures and ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
Departmental Forklift training and certified
- Customer Service:
Coordinate with the customer service and sales teams to address any shipping-related inquiries or issues.
Ensure that all shipments meet customer quality standards and delivery requirements.
Handle any customer complaints or concerns related to shipping or receiving, providing timely and effective resolutions.
- Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of shipping and receiving operations.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a shipping and receiving role, preferably within the print or manufacturing industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
Technical Skills: Proficient in using shipping software, inventory management systems, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of logistics, shipping regulations, and best practices in inventory management.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, vendors, and customers.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 50 lbs.), stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule: This position typically requires working standard business hours, with occasional overtime based on workload and deadlines.
Class C license within 60 days of hire.
