WOK COOK – JOB DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCTION
Osha Thai Kitchen’s goal is to
provide guests with an authentic Thai-inspired menu, focusing on traditional
Thai street food, served alongside a signature cocktail program and an expertly
curated wine and beer list.

Osha Thai Kitchen is looking for great people to join its opening team. We are
in search of team members who embody our vision of a dining experience and are
ready to help write the next chapter of Thai food dining in Houston.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Prepare and cook dishes using a wok, following Osha Thai Kitchen’s recipes and standards.
- Ensure all ingredients are prepped and ready for service, including chopping vegetables and marinating proteins.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure the quality and consistency of dishes.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during peak hours.
- Assist in inventory management, including proper stock rotation to minimize waste.
- Ensure proper labeling and date marking of all perishable items.
- Participate in daily line checks to uphold kitchen standards.
- Communicate effectively with the front of house team to coordinate orders.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff as needed.
- Uphold company policies and procedures at all times
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for food and beverage.
- Positive attitude and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Able to stand for long periods in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Available to work 40-50 hours a week, including weekends.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Good hearing for accurate communication.
- Understanding of the English language.
- Bilingual preferred, but not required.
- Basic computer and writing skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly.
REQUIRED
TRAINING/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in a kitchen environment, specifically with wok cooking or Asian cuisine.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Must have a Texas Food Handlers Certification.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate their wok cooking skills during the interview process.
This position reports to Executive Chef/Sous Chef.
