We serve owners and managers of infrastructure, as well as designers, engineers, and general contractors, across the U.S. and in selected international markets.
We are recruiting a Business Development Manager, for Western North America territory, to support our current Senior Business Development Manager, to develop new and strengthen existing client relationships where our underground/pipe rehabilitation solutions can be best utilized. This position will be based remotely and will report to the Senior Business Development Manager for the territory.
As a Business Development Manager for the Water Wastewater Division, you will be accountable for bringing the capabilities of Structural Technologies to the Water/Wastewater, fossil, and hydroelectric markets, serving customers needing support with their underground and pipeline infrastructure. We will help you to excel in working in a Team based Sales Environment and in working through the Complex Sale with multiple Team members having multiple relationships within the client’s organization. As a Business Development Manager, you will collaborate with our Technologies and Operations teams to develop solutions that tackle the toughest construction challenges and meet the needs of our valued customers.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
- Participate in web-based meetings, in-person meetings, emails, and phone calls with Structural Technologies’ current and potential municipal and power generation clients as needed.
- Assist with drafts of proposals and necessary revisions.
- Review and promote technical specifications.
- Assist with assembly of packages and submittals.
- Attend municipal jobsite walks and pre-bid meetings as needed.
- Draft technical packages for submission on projects and for internal discussions.
- Participate in municipal pipe project review calls and maintain up to date CRM listings for pipeline projects.
- Attend industry events and tradeshows.
- Draft summaries of projects for use as case histories on website as well as abstracts (and papers) for submission to technical conferences.
- Join, attend and maintain active status on industry technical committees relevant to the water/wastewater market and underground/pipelines applications.
- Collaborate on developing marketing content for use in e-blast newsletters and on the underground/pipeline portion of the Structural Technologies’ website.
- Update Salesforce with new contacts obtained from business interactions, conferences and presentations.
- Create and maintain a database of water/wastewater contacts with details on their underground/pipeline systems and balance of plant infrastructure. Work with the Structural Technologies’ sales resources to help develop this database and reach out to key targets.
- After receiving appropriate training, give capabilities presentations to potential clients on our underground/pipeline capabilities and work with our Team to follow up on feedback and inquiries that arise from presentations.
Successful candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for this exciting opportunity:
- Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, project management, business, or marketing
- Willing to travel (mostly within the West Coast, some national for conference participation, approximately 50-60%)
- Experience/Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in a professional environment related to pipelines industry and related to civil/mechanical/structural engineering, or construction activities. We are looking for a goal-oriented, enthusiastic individual with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, strong verbal, written and computer skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with co-workers, clients, and consultants. Will have high energy, a positive, up-beat, can-do personality, and experience in presenting and working within a team environment. Strong understanding of sales functions, procedures, and standards along with structural and civil engineering concepts and practices. Ability to interface well with all levels of the organization internally as well as externally with partner agencies and customers.
- Excels in client development. Structural expects to get multiple projects year over year from its best clients.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and familiar working with Salesforce or other similar CRM systems.
- Preferred Experience:
- Experience/Qualifications: 5+ years’ experience in a sales, operations, project management, or engineering capacity in the Water/Wastewater market.
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience with piping systems and ability to understand and fluently discuss pipe and condition assessment technologies, failure modes, and repair techniques. The ideal candidate will have a background in either Condition Assessment or Asset Management.
- Industry Experience: 5+ years professional experience related to civil or structural engineering with a focus in pipeline engineering.
