A welder helper provides essential support to skilled welders. Their responsibilities include:
Preparing the Work Area: This involves setting up equipment, assembling and dismantling rigs, and ensuring a safe and organized workspace.
Handling Materials and Tools: A welder helper assists with moving materials, loading and unloading tools, and ensuring welders have necessary supplies.
Basic Welding Tasks: Under the supervision of an experienced welder, they may perform simple welding tasks.
Welder Helper Responsibilities
- - Attend on-site safety meetings.
- - Maintain cleanliness of work areas.
- - Assist welders in setting up rigs and moving them between work areas.
- - Ensure welders have necessary materials and tools (such as rods and grinding discs).
- - Maintain stock levels of materials and supplies.
- - Follow welders' instructions to adjust welding machine temperatures.
- - Use buffers and grinders to clean welds.
- - Operate various tools and equipment.
- - Identify safety risks and hazards, complying with relevant safety procedures and regulations.
Welder Helper Requirements
- - At least 6 months of work experience in a similar role.
- - Proficient knowledge of all aspects of welding.
- - Basic English reading and writing skills.
- - Physical strength, agility, and dexterity.
- - Ability to work in a standing position for extended hours.
- - Comfortable with working on elevated surfaces.
- - Resilience to adverse climatic conditions.
- - Availability to work shifts and extended hours.
- - Willingness to travel to remote areas for extended periods.
