JOB DESCRIPTION
Lakewood Church is seeking an organized, analytical, and detail-oriented individual to join our Volunteer Operations Department as a Volunteer Operations Specialist. This critical role will focus on the analysis and optimization of volunteer data to support operational efficiency and decision-making across all ministries. As a key member of our team, you’ll collaborate closely with ministry leaders to ensure data is accurate, up-to-date, and used effectively to optimize volunteer experiences.
This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Constituent Relations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Maintain and update the volunteer database to ensure it reflects accurate, real-time information
- Track data analytics to track volunteer engagement, identify trends, and develop reports that drive improvements in our volunteer management practices
- Provide training for ministry leaders on the Samaritan system, focusing on generating reports, understanding system functionality, and utilizing data to manage volunteers more effectively
- Lead periodic training sessions to ensure ministry leaders can independently use Samaritan to track volunteer data, monitor engagement, and generate reports relevant to their specific needs
- Offer ongoing support to ministry leaders, troubleshooting any system issues and answering questions related to the use of Samaritan
- Create user-friendly guides, documentation, and best practices for ministry leaders to help them maximize their use of the system
- Ensure volunteer data is accurate, complete, and free of duplicates or errors
- Implement data cleaning processes to remove outdated or incorrect information
- Monitor and resolve any discrepancies in the volunteer database, ensuring consistency across all records
- Track volunteer participation, retention, and compliance metrics to inform operational improvements and resource allocation
- Utilize and maintain volunteer management tools to track volunteer data and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Act as a central point of contact for ministries regarding data-related inquiries and operational insights
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between volunteer data and overall organizational goals
- Communicate complex data findings in a clear, concise manner to leadership and ministry teams
- Other related duties as assigned

- Regular attendance at Church services and classes
- Serving as a Prayer Partner or as a volunteer in any ministry of the Church, and
- Serving our community through local outreaches from time to time when needed by the Church
QUALIFICATIONS
- Uncompromised commitment to Lakewood Church’s vision, values, and core beliefs
- Demonstrate Christ-like character
- Strong knowledge of data analytics, reporting tools, and database management
- Proficiency with CRM/volunteer management systems (Samaritans is a plus) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of data reporting processes and analytical tools
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies
- Proven track record of managing large datasets and ensuring data integrity
- Experience in training non-technical users (ministry leaders) on system functionality and reporting tools
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer effective solutions to system-related issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data insights in a simple format
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A college degree in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Analytics, Business Administration) is preferred
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field is preferred
- Experience with Samaritan or similar volunteer management systems is a plus
- Experience in nonprofit or church volunteer operations is a plus but not required
