With a commitment to access and equity, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all advancement programs, including community and government relations, marketing and communications, and resource development for the college. About the Position
As the Vice President of Advancement, you will play a critical role in leading the College’s community engagement, outreach, programming, and fundraising efforts. With a commitment to access and equity, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all advancement programs, including community and government relations, marketing and communications, and resource development for the college. In this role you, will lead the following:
- Mt. Hood Community College Foundation and Alumni
- Brand, Marketing, and District Communications
- Community-based programs, including Child Care Resource & Referral, Small Business Development Center, and Workforce, Apprenticeship and Community Education.
Essential Duties
- Provides strategic, innovative leadership in the planning, implementation, assessment, and improvement of a comprehensive college advancement, communications, and community focused programs. Aligns area goals, strategic initiatives, and budgets with College’s Strategic Plan, mission, vision, goals and objectives. Ensures policies and procedures are in compliance with relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Collaborates to advance the college as a leader in equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Serves as a member of the college's executive team to provide leadership and college-wide decision making.
- Partners with the college president on government relations and advocacy. Creates and executes legislative action plans, and builds relationships with elected officials.
- Develops and administers a comprehensive advancement budget that ensures responsible stewardship of funds and actively considers equity and accessibility in program and physical resources. Provides general oversight and support for community focused program budgets. Works with staff to align budgets with strategic goals. Prepares, manages, and monitors Foundation budgets, accounts, and investments using generally accepted accounting principles, and the finance policy.
- Develops a unified plan for community focused programs that identifies and meets community needs, encourages community engagement, and leverages shared opportunities and resources.
- Manages and supervises staff and volunteers, recruiting, developing, and retaining equity-minded teams representing diverse backgrounds. Promotes professional development and continuous learning. Evaluates staff performance, and coaches and takes corrective action as needed.
- Serves as the executive director of the MHCC Foundation. Designs, develops, and executes a comprehensive development strategy to support the college mission and goals. Develops and implements entrepreneurial strategies to generate revenue including seeking support from grants, individual donors, business, organizations, and private foundations.
- Ensures that the Foundation upholds the Donor Bill of Rights. Establishes accountability standards and systems that track the Foundation's effectiveness and impact.
- Serves as a college liaison to and maintains an active presence with the community, business and social leaders; maintains positive relationships and builds partnerships with college stakeholders to advance the college mission and strategic initiatives, including maximizing public perception and support for bond campaigns and other voter-based initiatives.
