Job Details
The Director of Accounting will oversee the company's financial reporting, accounting operations, and process improvement initiatives. This leadership role requires an individual with a strong background in accounting, business acumen, and a proven ability to manage and mentor teams. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial statements, while identifying opportunities for operational improvements that enhance organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Oversee the preparation, analysis, and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Collaborate with senior leadership to drive business strategy and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and overall performance of accounting and financial reporting processes.
Manage, coach, and develop accounting staff, ensuring high levels of performance, professional growth, and adherence to best practices.
Act as the key point of contact for audits, ensuring timely completion and compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements.
Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Prepare and present financial reports to management, board of directors, and other stakeholders as needed.
Work cross-functionally with other departments, such as Operations, Sales, and IT, to ensure alignment between accounting practices and business objectives.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Monitor cash flow and manage working capital to ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
Experience as a Controller or similar leadership role, overseeing financial operations, accounting functions, and team management.
Proven expertise in preparing and reviewing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Strong business acumen and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for leadership.
Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Excellent leadership skills with experience managing and developing a team of professionals.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with Sage Intact is a plus.
Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment with changing priorities.
