The Vice President of Technical Operations will play a crucial role in leading and managing the operations of DevOps, Production Operations, Release Management, and Quality Assurance. This role is responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of digital products and services, ensuring high availability, scalability, and quality in a fully remote environment.
Reporting into the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the VP of Technical Operations will work closely with cross-functional teams across the US and India, driving operational excellence and ensuring the successful delivery of digital products and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and execute the strategy for DevOps, Production Operations, Release Management, and Quality Assurance in line with the company's digital goals.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a geographically distributed team across the US and India, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, engineering, and product teams to align operational initiatives with business objectives.
- Ensure operational readiness for product launches and service releases, maintaining high availability and reliability of platforms.
- Drive automation and efficiency in the deployment pipeline, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery of code into production.
- Oversee the production environment, ensuring uptime, performance, and rapid incident response.
- Lead the implementation of infrastructure-as-code and cloud-native technologies to optimize resource utilization.
- Ensure that monitoring, alerting, and logging are in place to provide visibility into system health.
- Establish and enforce a robust release management process, ensuring all releases are thoroughly tested, well-documented, and executed with minimal impact on production.
- Manage version control, deployment schedules, and post-release verification processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product teams to ensure smooth product releases and continuous delivery.
- Oversee the QA strategy, ensuring rigorous testing processes are followed to maintain high product quality.
- Implement automated testing frameworks to increase efficiency in the QA process.
- Foster a culture of accountability and ownership for quality, driving improvements in test coverage, defect resolution, and overall product reliability.
- Build and manage a high-performing, fully remote team that spans across the US and India, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Utilize tools and processes that facilitate remote work, including task management, code reviews, and synchronous/asynchronous communication.
- Ensure team members have clear objectives, are motivated, and are supported in their professional growth.
- Ensure key operational metrics are tracked, analyzed, and improved over time, including uptime, deployment frequency, and system performance.
- Implement operational best practices and procedures, including incident management, problem resolution, and post-mortems.
- Continuously identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to reduce manual intervention and increase operational efficiency.
- 10+ years of experience in technical operations, with a strong focus on DevOps, Production Ops, Release Management, and Quality Assurance.
- Proven track record of leading and managing geographically distributed teams, preferably across the US and India.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong background in CI/CD pipeline management and infrastructure automation.
- Deep knowledge of best practices in release management, version control, and automated testing.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and drive initiatives across cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in a remote-first environment is highly preferred.
- Leadership: Ability to lead, inspire, and develop remote teams across diverse geographies.
- Operational Excellence: Demonstrated focus on high availability, reliability, and process improvements.
- Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams to align technical operations with business goals.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to quickly assess complex operational issues and develop innovative solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
