Veterinarian - Leadership Potential at Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital

Want to practice exiting small animal medicine with a fantastic team at the base of a breathtaking, world-famous mountain?!!!!! You’re in luck!!!!! Mt. Shasta Animal Hospital is looking for a veterinarian to join our three-doctor practice. Located at the foot of beautiful Mount Shasta, we are a large, free-standing veterinary facility that was expanded and modernized in 2016.

What makes us special?! First and foremost, we have seasoned doctors, three very experienced, talented, and dedicated RVTs, and a team of assistants and receptionists committed to learning and growing in their positions. We strongly believe and have invested in training, CE opportunities and mentorship for our support staff, recently helping our assistants achieve Veterinary Assistant Level I and Level II certifications.

When it comes to hospital equipment and amenities, we want to be able to offer our patients as many services as we can. We feature Idexx in-house lab equipment, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, laser therapy, and both in-house and online pharmacies.

We also believe that the best medicine goes hand-in-hand with a healthy hospital culture, and that we can’t take care of our patients unless we take care of our selves and each other. Management plays an active and supportive role in the practice and is committed to employee well-being.

Why move here?! The Mountain is hard to ignore! We also have gorgeous waterfalls in abundance as well as rivers and Shasta Lake nearby. Hiking, biking, whitewater rafting and all kinds of outdoor adventures are at your fingertips, including easy access to skiing and winter sports in the snowy season. The city of Mt. Shasta is rich in history and bustling (well, as much as you can bustle with three stop lights) with locals and international tourists! We have an amazing weekly Farmer’s Market downtown that hosts live music and locally grown food every Monday, and our local community comes together in a variety of ways every year.

We invite candidates interested in a Medical Director role but are also open to motivated associate DVMs of all experience levels. Ideally, we are looking for someone three - four days a week, one of which would be a surgery day.

Our hospital is open Monday-Friday 8 am – 6 pm. We are currently closed Saturdays; depending on staffing we may re-open in the future. We are closed Sundays and don’t offer emergency on-call. For those currently licensed in other states, please note that as of January 1, 2022 California no longer requires a separate state board exam to practice.
