Job Description:
Ensure that all Core Engineering projects managed under the NPD process are executed timely, correctly, and completely. Drive results through the vehicle engineering team that reduce engineering defects and support the strategic goals of the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES:
- Manages workload of Vehicle and Electrical Engineering staff. Sets priorities, defines deliverables, and provides direction.
- Maintains status of all Core Engineering NPD projects, assists in resolving roadblocks to ensure successful launch. Partners with Design Team manager to ensure all activities are scheduled to support the project timeline.
- Partners with M.E. Manager and Engineering Services Manager to drive continuous improvement efforts in all department processes.
- Supports pre-production and launch activities to ensure that teams are properly supported and functioning to achieve expectations.
- Facilitates the transition of projects from the R&D team to the Core Engineering Team, leading the establishment of requirements for each Core group.
- Owns and executes annual strategic improvement initiatives based on overall company strategic plan.
- Assists Vehicle Engineers in solving technical challenges, reviews potential solutions for feasibility.
- Interviews and hires new staff; prioritizes, assigns and reviews work, approves time off for Payroll purposes, and prepares and reviews employee performance evaluations.
- Supports and participates in Morgan Olson's PPS team efforts.
- Adheres to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused and supporting continuous improvement activities.
- Adheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the time.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in an Engineering discipline with 3-5 years of leadership experience.
- Work experience in a high complexity design/production environment required, complete vehicle assembly/development preferred.
- Demonstrated excellence in problem solving (A3, 8D, or similar)
- Fundamental knowledge of 3D design and PDM, DFMEA, FEA, DVP&R and similar.
- Ability to work in a Team oriented environment Proficient in Microsoft Office Software
- Excellent Interpersonal skills along with superior verbal and written communication skills.
