PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Oversee the assigned Value Stream operations and team to achieve monthly targets and drive performance in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and operational capabilities. This position will also be responsible for talent development, culture and engagement, and maintain positive employee relations in the facility. This position has direct oversight for production supervision and production planning personnel.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Achieve all safety, quality, delivery, engagement and productivity initiatives to deliver monthly objectives and year over year improvement. + Through partnership with the safety team, develop and lead safety improvements within the value stream focused on the highest impact areas of risk, and lead with a safety-first mindset. + Drive engagement and accountability to all policies and procedures through servant leadership and Gemba deployment. + Conduct effective change management process and communication plans ensuring proper involvement of key stakeholders of change. + Work collaboratively, across multiple stakeholders, including safety, quality, human resources, continuous improvement, engineering, and finance to solve operational issues and improvements. + Facilitate the performance management process for all direct reports including leadership effectiveness and career development opportunities. + Provide a work environment which adheres to all compliance and regulatory guidelines. + Establish a strong working relationship with Bargaining Unit employees and leaders. + Identify and lead improvements to meet safety, cost, operational and financial objectives. + Apply analytical skills to assess operational and financial data to identify opportunities and accurately assess impact to the organization. + Identify and apply key performance indicators to measure success and understand operational capacity relative to customer demand. + Identify appropriate staffing levels and training strategies based on demand data and collective bargaining agreement protocol.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management or similar field and minimum five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing/operations setting with leadership responsibilities required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Demonstrated servant leadership behaviors to influence and manage people/teams. + Demonstrated ability to work in a challenging, results oriented environment. + Ability to influence and create followership with others. + Strong initiative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Due to the nature of the products currently being manufactured at Viking Pump, we adhere to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). In turn, we are only able to hire US Persons. + Experience in Process Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen. + Ability to collect, analyze, and make decisions using business metrics and data. + Experience in a manufacturing setting, machining, assembly, quality. + Must be customer focused and know about internal and external customer relationships. + Must have excellent interpersonal skills and have ability to influence without direct authority. + Self-motivated, with good organizational skills and be able to handle multiple tasks. + Must work well in a team environment, experience working within a union environment a plus. + Must have good written and oral communication skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook. + Must be able to collect data on department metrics and create/maintain charts and graphs in Excel and make basic presentations in PowerPoint. + Proficient with MRP systems (JD Edwards preferred, but not required).
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
+ Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions. + Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person. + Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use. + General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
