Principal/Lead Silicon Validation & Verification Engineer

About the Position:
In this high-impact role, you will lead the validation and characterization of high-speed analog and mixed-signal blocks, working alongside cross-functional teams to launch cutting-edge ASIC products for data center networking. As part of a dynamic and innovative team, you will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation connectivity solutions that drive the future of data center networking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analog/Mixed-Signal Validation
- Perform comprehensive validation and characterization of analog and mixed-signal IPs, including clock generation, timing IPs, data converters, TIAs, modulator drivers, clock and data recovery (CDR), and SerDes.
- Bench Testing & Debugging
- Utilize advanced test equipment to perform bench testing, debug issues, and validate control loops such as PLLs and LDOs.
- EDA Tools
- Leverage Cadence Virtuoso and other EDA tools to build test benches, run simulations, and analyze results for debugging and correlation.
- Signal & Power Integrity
- Conduct signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) measurements, and correlate results to identify and resolve design issues.
- Test Development & Reporting
- Develop, execute, and document robust test procedures, providing detailed reports and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
- Standards Compliance
- Debug compliance test failures of standard I/Os and assess design bugs to recommend effective workarounds.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams and end customers to ensure seamless integration and optimization of high-speed optical and electrical interconnects.
- Programming & Analysis
- Use MATLAB or Python for data analysis, test automation, and process optimization.
Required Qualifications:
- Education
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience
- 12+ years in analog and mixed-signal IP validation and verification, particularly for high-speed data center networking and optical I/Os.
Technical Expertise
- Bench testing and debugging of high-speed designs.
- Deep understanding of SI/PI, including PI and SI measurements for debugging and correlation.
- Compliance testing and debugging of standard I/Os.
- Hands-on experience with control loops such as PLLs and LDOs.
Software Skills
- Proficiency with MATLAB or Python for test automation and data analysis.
Standards Knowledge
- Familiarity with IEEE standards and high-speed optical/electrical interconnect architectures.
Problem-solving
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail.
Collaboration & Organization
- Ability to work effectively across internal teams and customer groups, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced packaging (2.5D/3D) architectures.
- System knowledge of optical I/O technologies and silicon photonics-based transceiver architectures.
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as DCO, oscilloscopes (oversampling/real-time), and network analyzers.
- Familiarity with RF and high-speed probing techniques.
- Proven ability to innovate and collaborate in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel when necessary to support projects.
