About the Job
Bemana is searching for a VP of Business Development to join the team of a growing electric motor manufacturing/service company.
The responsibilities of the VP of Business Development include creating a new book of business, overseeing the daily sales activities, meeting with major clients, authoring sales reports, designing effective sales strategies, hiring, managing, and training sales resources, plus assisting in marketing company products and services to both governmental and commercial entities.
To be the successful VP of Business Development for Specialty Products, you must have medium voltage industrial motor sales experience and/or similar industrial products industry experience. The candidate must have prior experience managing large motor sales teams and should have excellent leadership skills and the ability to drive company success. A top-notch VP of Business Development should have an in-depth knowledge of the market and competitive products and have excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills. This individual must have a track record of building energetic and effective sales teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build a sales funnel from scratch. Identifying where process improvements can be made and developing sales plans and strategies to achieve sales goals.
- Drive prospecting for new business and help develop the skills of others on the sales team to grow company sales.
- Recruit and hire sales staff plus develop effective training programs to improve quotation throughput and accuracy.
- Manage existing sales team and maintain sales operations. Review and complete customer contract requirements. Negotiate and/or settle account disputes.
- Outline and manage sales budgets.
- Lead the bid bonding process and understand the steps necessary to secure municipal work.
- Gain customer approval for Louis Allis to do service and installation work-related activity at customer worksites.
- Set annual sales goals and motivate the sales teams to achieve their goals.
- Monitor the market and competitor products and activities and provide detailed sales forecasting.
- Review customer activity, anticipate customer needs, and improve customer satisfaction with urgency and accuracy.
- Create metrics and sales reports to provide feedback to the leadership team.
- Establish and maintain key customer relationships.
- Actively manage all aspects and drive the successful use of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool PipeDrive.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in relevant experience.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of electromechanical rotating equipment. Demonstrated history of developing new business in the medium voltage motor market space.
- 10-15 years of experience in medium and/or high voltage industrial motor sales.
- Previous sales and business development experience in large motor sales. Demonstrated ability to drive sales process change and efficiency, both in quotation accuracy and timeliness.
- Demonstrated ability to forge long-standing customer relationships that drive repeat business.
- Demonstrated ability to assess a market and determine a sales and marketing path forward to secure new business.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others, with strong interpersonal skills and a professional communication style and appearance.
- Must have medium and/or high voltage industrial motor sales experience.
- Prior history at a large motor repair facility capable of both high voltage and medium voltage motor repair is a plus.
- Prior work experience in estimating large motor sales and/or repair projects is preferred.
- Outside sales experience of 15+ years
- Demonstrated history of filling a pipeline funnel of project jobs.
- Prior use of a CRM tool or other methodology to track the sales funnel.
- Prior government contract pursuits a plus.
- Demonstrated history of top line sales growth year over year.
- In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods, as well as employee motivation techniques.
- Strong working knowledge of the company's products, competitive products, and the market.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Great strategic planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
- Self-starter, strong work ethic.
