Who We Want
The VP of Tax oversees all aspects of Carson and Partner Offices tax strategy and compliance. The VP of Tax will develop and execute tax compliance for income, sales/use, state, and property tax; manage tax audits; manage tax incentive programs; manage relationship with outside tax resources; ensure proper partnership tax compliance; and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws. The VP of Tax will oversee tax structuring for acquired entities and compliance with provisions of the purchase agreements. In addition, the VP of Tax will play a key role in managing the capital accounts of the company and maintaining communications concerning tax matters with the Carson shareholders.
What To Expect
- Develop and implement Carsons tax strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Establishes organizational tax policies while maintaining compliance with local, state and federal taxing authorities.
- Manage tax incentive programs and work with third party consultants to ensure maximum value is achieved.
- Act as a resource for Advanced Solutions Team on tax planning services.
- Collaborate with various business initiatives, providing tax expertise and guidance.
- Manage process of collecting and reviewing tax information from all minority owned partnerships. Serve as a resource to those shareholders as they complete their tax returns.
- Actively participate in the diligence process of acquisition targets and then ensure compliance with purchase agreement provisions related to tax.
- Manage tax distribution process by estimating taxable income each quarter and making required tax distributions.
- Communicate quarterly with shareholders and ensure timely delivery of estimated and final K1 schedules.
- Maintain capital accounts, both book and tax, for all shareholders.
What You Need
- Strong technical skills in all aspects of tax planning and compliance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in tax software
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar field of study required.
- CPA designation required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax compliance and planning
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal tax laws
- Familiar with tax incentive programs
- Experience with partnership tax accounting
