Responsibilities:About the role:
The VP IT Cloud Platform Engineering is responsible for leading the development of a technology architecture for cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) that business solutions delivery teams will leverage to efficiently deliver cloud solutions enabling business processes and/or solving business problems. The scope of the services includes people, process and technology associated with all cloud platforms GM Financial is leveraging. This person will lead the teams that engineer and operate our cloud capabilities and also play a key role in migrating applications individually and in bulk to our cloud. This person needs to be very experienced in technology with strong engineering, planning and coordination skills. This person needs to be able to understand the cloud engineering details and be a change leader for running clouds. This individual will be expected to think strategically and participate in long-term planning efforts to define and support the business vision. This individual must be able to translate complex ideas, technology and programs into language upper management can relate to and be a key influencer on technical decisions that affect the business on a long-term basis.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the migration of applications from on prem to the cloud and a predictable, repeatable process.
- Effectively manage the GM Financial Cloud Services , including ensuring an appropriate staffing model and ongoing training and development approach; collaborate with business solution and software delivery teams
- to define and implement an effective cloud engagement model that spans the lifecycle from solution definition to support
- Create, enhance, implement and support GM Financial’s multi-cloud strategy and architecture through collaboration with existing IT departments and functions.
- Partner with IT functional teams and enterprise architects to create and maintain a stable scalable, manageable and predictable cloud platform.
- Understand the trade-offs required to manage the different levels of risk tolerance and risk exposure across the organization and balance this with risk investments
- Understand, advocate and support the enterprise's business and IT strategies
- Continuously monitor emerging cloud technologies to better evaluate differentiated vendor offerings.
- Participate in the development and ongoing management of enterprise architecture governance structure based on business and IT strategies.
- Stay abreast of new industry trends and provide subject matter expertise in Cloud Technologies, providing consultation to leadership.
- Partner with the GM Financial Cyber Security team to ensure solutions meet GM Financial’s Cyber Security policies and requirements
- Define organizational requirements for the resources, structures and cultural changes necessary to support Cloud Center for Enablement as well as agreed to capabilities and associated service levels
- Promote the Cloud Center for Enablement capabilities, outcomes and results to the organization, including the enterprise's IT and business leaders; this includes assessing (through appropriate metrics) and
- communicating the achievement and impact of the CC4E
- Define KPIs and metrics for the CC4E to drive effectiveness and efficiency of the function
- Define a consistent, effective engagement model so that the IT organization knows how to engage / leverage Cloud Center for Enablement teams / capabilities;
- As appropriate, based on enterprise and IT need, onboard additional cloud platforms and services into the Cloud Center for Enablement function to enhance delivery and promote leverage.
- Enable an environment that supports and drives coaching, development and mentoring of employees to strengthen skill sets, foster high performance, and support further career growth
- Oversee and monitor the development and implementation of CC4E budget and drive efficiencies that result in OPEX improvements.
- Liaison with GM technology groups on shared strategy, execution, tools, software licenses, measurement and adjustments
- Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different clrequests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Resolve most conflicts between timeline, budget and scope independently but intuitively escalate complex or consequential issues to management.
- Lead applicable transformation efforts
- Create a culture of accountability and customer-centricity.
- Establish appropriate departmental control practices and ensure compliance to standards and service levels. Ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures and State and Federal regulations
- Focus on continuous process improvement and user satisfaction by increasing IT’s value through innovation and emerging technologies

Qualifications:

- Azure, AWS and other Cloud Technologies
- Experience with integration of cloud computing with on-premise solutions
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline or 10+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in the field required
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or MBA preferred
- Greater than 10 years of progressively responsible experience within Information Systems required
- 5-7 years of corporate management experience required
- 1-2 yeras experience running AWS or Azure clouds
- 1-3 yeras experience of cloud migration to either AWS or/and Azure
