Position Summary: The Assistant Controller supports the Banc’s Controller in all accounting and finance-related activities playing a vital role in the monthly close process, internal and external financial report preparation, regulatory reporting, and board package preparation. The Assistant Controller serves as a resource for technical accounting research, a liaison to external auditors and a leader to the accounting staff. The Assistant Controller fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture and drives continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with the management of daily accounting tasks including general ledger integrity, journal entry review and account reconciliations.
- Ensures accuracy of transactions, proper coding, and corrects/reconciles accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
- Manages the month-end and year-end closing process.
- Prepares consolidated financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and applicable regulations.
- Drafts annual audited financial statements including footnote disclosures.
- Liaison to external auditors to facilitate the audit process, providing necessary supporting documentation and explanations.
- Researches technical accounting guidance.
- Ensures all corporate and accounting policies and procedures are properly documented, implemented and current.
- Develops, documents and maintains internal controls to prevent errors in financial statements and safeguard assets.
- Analyzes financial data to identify trends and variances in support of decision making.
- Supervises accounting staff, including training, assigning tasks, and reviewing work.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis and reports as requested; and other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- CPA/Public Accounting experience strongly preferred.
Experience/Key Competencies:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably with a financial institution; experience to include 3+ years of managerial experience.
- Experience with financial statement preparation and regulatory reporting.
- Proficient in MS Office products, specifically Excel, and accounting software programs. FIS, AvidXchange (BankTel) and BlackLine experience is a plus, but not required.
- Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.

- Ability to work with team members across the organization.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Office environment; minimal travel requirements.

SALARY RANGE: $130k - $165k ; Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
