About the Job
The VAC Project Engineer will take on the role of the Project Manager and Sales Engineer for VAC Orders, responsible for the on-time and profitable delivery of projects, as well as completing all the engineering setups and submittals required. The VAC Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Quotations department on Project Kickoffs. This person will also work with the Buyer/Planner to execute the Project Plan meeting and develop action plans, assign responsibilities and create Gantt Charts. The VAC Project Engineer will report up the Value Stream Manager, and working intimately with the VAC Buyer/Planner and Assembly Team, to ensure seamless execution of VAC orders, focusing on initiation, planning, executing, budgeting, coordinating and closing projects.
The VAC Project Engineer will work closely with Sales, Applications Engineering and Customers to ensure all specifications are properly outlined and executed, and all project deliverables are met. The VAC Project Engineer will also be responsible for creating part numbers, drawings, bills of material, 3D models, schematics, and other technical submittals for VAC Projects, ensuring documentation is prepared and delivered accurately and in a rapid time frame.
Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- 5+ years’ experience in valve and automation manufacturing, with direct experience working with pneumatic and electric automation and controls.
- Engineering degree preferred, or associate degree plus necessary industry experience.
- Project Management Skills.
- Highly organized with advanced knowledge of MS Office Applications. 2D and 3D Modeling experience, preferably SolidWorks.
- Experience with ERP systems; experience with LN Infor is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude. Excellent communication and good customer service skills.
- Strong ability to work well with various members of the team as well as other teams.
- Detail orientated, information seeking, willingness to learn, enjoy fast paced team environment.
- Ability to work under pressure, self-driven, proactive, and systematic in approach.
- Problem solving mindset is critical.
- Efficient and rapid work pace is required.
- Time management and punctual.
Performance Standards:
- Overarching goals for department pertain to Shipment volume, On Time Delivery, and Delivery Time.
- Customer complaints and assembly work stoppages are also tied to this position’s effectiveness.
- Successful execution of responsibilities in relation to project management and sales engineering, with timely and organized management of orders, while ensuring swift and high-quality turnaround of technical requirements and systematic transactions.
- Effective communication and seamless coordination of tasks and process with operations, shop, applications, product, technology, and project teams.
- Excellent customer service and promptness in response to internal and external requests.
- Strong accountability and visibility.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position requires working at a computer and partaking in meetings for extended periods, but also the ability to visit shop frequently and visit with various operations, product, and technology teams across campus, and potentially meeting with customers.
