Per diem employees may work 0-16 hours per week.
Temporary employees may be assigned to work up to 40 hours per week.

Position Description
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and performs risk, quality, compliance, and utilization management review. The position requires the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information connected with the performance of primary care providers, nurses, ancillary, and support staff in the giving of medically appropriate care.
Education and/or Experience
Required
- Current Washington Sate RN license
- Commits to attaining UR/UM and/or Clinical Documentation Specialist certification within 2 years of
hire - Four years of clinical practice or patient care knowledge and experience
Preferred
- BSN or applicable Health Science degree
- Previous utilization review experience
Major Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a system for utilization review of incoming patients
- Develops and implements audits for concurrent review of utilization, quality, and related performance of
patient care staff. Performs professional Risk/Quality/Compliance Management and Utilization
Management (QM/UM) activities - Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management/ Utilization
Management programs and related reports and studies - Serves as a liaison between the hospital and all external payers on issues related to intensity of service
and severity of illness for patients - Ensures the timely and seamless clinical transition of patients through medically appropriate levels of
care - Reviews hospital admissions for medical necessity and conducts concurrent reviews of all patients for
utilization reviews to ensure correct admission status is ordered and length of stay is appropriate - Provides appropriate information to physicians related to required documentation elements
- Documents all clinical review utilizing Interqual or other selected screening criteria
- Conduct site reviews of all primary care providers, focusing on medical record compliance
- Escalate medical issues to the Medical Director for review
- Conducts Quality and Compliance Audits, Medical Necessity Review and Process improvement projects
- Exercises complete objectivity and independence in the audit and site reviews of pre-admission
information, categories of care, medical necessity, quality, and incidents with risk management
implications
