About the role:
The Union Boiler Operator/Watch Engineer ensures proper operation of a high-pressure steam plant through the control of boilers and all supporting equipment. Engineer performs maintenance activities on steam production and HVAC equipment during their scheduled coverage shifts.
The coverage shifts will be on a Rotating Basis.
What you’ll do:
Maintains steam production, repair steam plant, water treatment, and HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance to site requirements.
Reads meters, gauges, and recording devices, documenting operational parameters, to comply with EPA and DEP regulations, and site requirements.
Performs preventative maintenance activities on steam plant, water treatment, and HVAC equipment.
Oversees third party vendor service activities to ensure work is performed safely and appropriately.
Receives fuel, chemical, and parts deliveries.
Moves equipment and parts with the use of a pallet jack or forklift truck.
Will be called upon to occasionally work overtime as required by workload.
What you’ll need:
Minimum of two-four years’ experience in the operation of a high-pressure steam plant.
Ability to bring boilers and associated equipment on-line and off-line in a safe manner.
Perform and monitor plant steam equipment to identify abnormalities.
Understand, perform testing, and adjust boiler water chemistry to meet operational requirements.
Must possess a State of New Jersey Red Seal Operating Power Plant license or a Blue seal license with the understanding that the applicant will obtain a Red seal within a year.
Ability to work outside of normal shift rotation during Watch Operating Engineer absences.
Working knowledge of all steam plant equipment and ability to maintain and repair the equipment to ensure steam production is maintained.
Ability to communicate clearly with plant personnel and management.
Valid driver’s license. Strong mechanical aptitude.

Collective Bargaining Agreement: The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable CBA. The negotiated rate for the position is $43.93/hr.
