UCB is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student to join our Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team as an intern. This role is ideal for students with a keen interest in analytical thinking and a proactive, independent mindset to support various tasks.
About Global Trade Compliance: The GTC team is a vital part of UCB’s Global Supply Chain, ensuring our global operations comply with sanctions, embargoes, and export control regulations. The team also ensures that all cross-border logistics comply with customs regulations worldwide.
What You’ll Learn:
- How legislation translates into internal controls, policies and procedures
- Understand how pharmaceuticals are distributed globally and its challenges
- Navigating global customs, export control, DEA/controlled product legislation, and green/CBAM initiatives
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a global supply chain and trade compliance management.
Responsibilities
Master Data cleanup/improvement
Improving the quality of SAP Master data for business partners such as Banks, customers and vendors insuring that complete and full information is reflected in UCB’s ERP system. This will enhance the sanctioned screening process.
Support the team with CBAM
Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.Activities will be determined by the GTC team as it relates to the carbon emissions value of the products of the products being imported in the EU and this is very new initiative.
Sanctioned Party List Screening
Unused banks analysis to determine if they could be flagged for deletion to reduce the amount of screening. Identify banks that have been marked for deletion and remove them from the Good Guy List via AEB screening tool
Regular daily
Liaising with key GTC stakeholders and support when required
Qualifications
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications):
- Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student studying business or general studies.
- Team-driven, yet able to be an independent thinker who can work effectively without constant supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented, thorough, and methodical
- Enthusiastic about learning and working with trade compliance professionals in the US and abroad
- No prior experience required
