We are seeking a seasoned Permanent Trust and Estate Paralegal to join our growing legal team. This position will play a pivotal role in our firm, providing comprehensive support in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, and probate. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the legal principles and practices related to trust and estate law, coupled with a strong passion for assisting clients in navigating complex legal matters. The ability to multitask, manage large workloads, and maintain a high level of professionalism under pressure is essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys in the preparation and execution of wills, trusts, estate plans, and related legal documents.
2. Conduct legal research and compile data on matters related to trusts and estates.
3. Liaise with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on their case status.
4. Coordinate with financial institutions, insurance companies, and other parties involved in the estate planning and probate process.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all legal regulations.
6. Support attorneys in court proceedings, including the preparation of court filings and attendance at hearings when necessary.
7. Manage the probate and trust administration process, including asset valuation, distribution, and closing of estates.
8. Assist in the preparation of federal and state estate and gift tax returns.
9. Stay abreast of changes in trust and estate law to provide the most accurate advice and service to our clients.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 4 years' experience as a Trust and Estate Paralegal.
2. A Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
3. Advanced knowledge of trust and estate law, including estate drafting and trust administration.
4. Proficient in legal research and data analysis.
5. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal matters in a clear and concise manner.
6. Strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
7. Proficiency in legal software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
8. A commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.
9. Certification from an ABA-approved Paralegal program is preferred.
10. Notary Public certification is a plus.
