Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Treasury Analyst with the Treasurer’s Office. This position will be a hybrid opportunity with an estimated two to three days in office. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Under the supervision of the Chief Treasury Officer and Senior Treasury Analyst, the Treasury Analyst plays an integral role in assisting in the day-to-day Treasury functions of UChicago Medicine. The position is primarily responsible for the management of cash, banking operations, debt compliance reporting, and short-term investments. The analyst will provide analytical and operational support to senior Treasury team colleagues. In doing so, this individual will work closely and establish relationships with business unit leaders across the finance function in the areas of accounting, accounts payable, budgeting, long-range planning, payroll, supply chain and tax.
Essential Job Functions
- Cash Management
- Prepare and monitor daily cash balances and cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily and future financial obligations for all System entities
- Reconcile the daily cash position to the daily bank statement
- Execute cash management strategies—including funds movements—to (i) optimize placement and investment of cash based on interest rates and (ii) minimize borrowing costs
- Provide Accounts Payable support through Oracle for bank supported vendor payment solutions; coordinate with procurement team in vendor campaigns system-wide to grow program utilization and increase rebate
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to forecast cash needs and develop analytics to enhance functionality
- Banking Operations Management
- Provide operational oversight for all banking activities, including document preparation for bank account openings and closings as well as new banking services
- Serve as a primary administrator for online banking platforms including managing authorized signers, creating and maintaining user profiles, and setting-up user entitlements
- Monitor all Treasury-related fees for accuracy; respond to external inquiries regarding payment
- Conduct banking fee analysis and continuously evaluate bank account structures and services with a goal of reducing fees and streamlining processes
- Help administer credit lines and assist with management of corporate credit card program
- Engage with bankers, advisors, trustees, custodians to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information as well as delivery of high-quality services
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Review legal documents to understand the terms and conditions associated with the System’s debt obligations, including reporting obligations and financial covenants
- Satisfy quarterly reporting for debt obligations, including maintenance of debt compliance schedules and preparation of financial ratios, utilization statistics and other information to ensure timely distribution to external parties
- Stay abreast of public disclosure requirements and support the System’s continuing disclosure obligations (such as Appendix A and EMMA postings), private business use (such as administration of the annual questionnaire and review of schedule K), annual officer’s certificates, and other requirements
- Capital Markets Transactions / Debt Management
- Support the Senior Treasury Analyst in working with accounting and accounts payable teams to ensure timely payment of debt service, swap obligations, and debt-related fees
- Support the Senior Treasury Analyst to complete debt-related audit responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in business, finance, or related field
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience
- Experience with Treasury and banking systems / platforms is preferred
- Familiarity with GAAP financial statements
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently on assignments, research issues, gather and analyze relevant data, formulate recommendations, present to management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors.
- Skilled at managing multiple projects and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and documentation.
- Experience with customer relationship management and negotiation techniques.
- Curiosity-driven and continuously interested in professional growth.
- Ability to interact quickly, thoughtfully, and impactfully with internal/external partners.
