About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 8-hour Evenings, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM with call 1-2 weeknights per week, and 1 weekend a month **Guaranteed Hours:** 40 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum 2 years **License:** Required **Certifications:** ACLS, BLS, PALS **Must-Have:** Experience in PACU and ICU preferred; experience with conscious sedation and recovering C-sections **Job Description:** - PACU unit with 10 beds, handling both Phase 1 and Phase 2 recoveries - Patient ratios are 2:1 or 1:1 - EMR system is Cerner Power Chart - Charge Nurse is present and takes patient assignments - Weekend Requirement includes 48-hour call once per month, and 8-16 hour call per week - Holiday work is as needed, with mandatory 24-hour call - Variable weekday call requirements based on unit needs from 2:30 PM - 5:30 AM - Weekend call typically spans 48 hours from Saturday 7 AM to Monday 5:30 AM - Scrub color is provided - Telemetry is managed with GE system - No ventilators - 24/7 presence of hospitalists or intensivists - No IV Team; 24/7 Respiratory Therapy - Pharmacy is staffed from 7 AM to midnight, Omnicell available after hours - Shifts may vary; flexibility required to accommodate different schedules - Possible floating to ambulatory care for cases - Orientation includes 2-3 shifts, depending on skill set - Common recovery cases include C-sections, anterior repairs, GI, bowel cases, whipples, gynecological procedures, general surgeries, and eye procedures - Occasionally, ICU patients recover in the PACU - Cancellation policy allows for up to 3 cancellations per contract; may cover full hours of a cancelled shift in lieu of cancellation
