Assesses the patient's physical and psycho social status on an ongoing basis, throughout the continuum of care, to ensure that the appropriate type and level of care is maintained.

Uses assessment data to plan for pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post procedure patient needs.

Performs pre-procedure, intra procedure nursing interventions in a skilled and proficient manner. This includes proficiency in the set up of procedures, anticipating the need for materials and equipment, conducting interventions in an appropriate manner based on assessment finding. Prepares patient and/or family for diagnostic procedures and treatments, educating patient and/or family on post procedure instructions, and providing follow up care.

Evaluates patient response pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post procedure to care delivered. Revises as needed and makes referrals when indicated to ensure all aspects of the patient's care have been addressed. Participates in the monitoring of nursing performance improvement indicators and trends.

Participates in the development of policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing practice. Incorporates advancements in communications and technology into nursing practice. Acts as a liaison in coordinating patient care activities with patients, family and then interdisciplinary team, within the scope of nursing practice, to ensure customer satisfaction.
