Job Details
We are seeking an experienced Torts and Insurance Defense Paralegal to join our team in Fort Myers.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and a solid background in civil litigation, particularly in tort and insurance defense matters.
- Assist attorneys in all aspects of torts and insurance defense litigation, from case inception to resolution.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, responses, subpoenas, and motions.
- Manage case files, ensuring all records, documents, and deadlines are well-organized and up to date.
- Conduct legal research and compile case law and statutes relevant to ongoing cases.
- Coordinate discovery processes, including document collection, review, and production.
- Summarize medical records, depositions, and other pertinent documents.
- Assist in trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, trial binders, and witness lists.
- Communicate with clients, experts, and witnesses to schedule interviews, depositions, and meetings.
- Monitor court deadlines and ensure compliance with applicable rules and procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, and maintaining case calendars.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Paralegal Studies or a related field. Paralegal certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in tort and insurance defense litigation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal practice management software.
- Strong knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage deadlines effectively.
