Wieland currently has an immediate need for a Tool & Die Technician to handle tasks associated with tooling maintenance, die set assembly, and modifications on stamping related processes - as well as performing preventative and predictive maintenance on these systems. This role will sit in Wieland's East Alton, IL facility.
Starting Pay: $44.81
Schedule: Rotating/Swinging
Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly
Responsibilities:Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting up and configuring stamping presses with the appropriate dies and tooling, ensuring proper material feed, and performing quality checks to produce accurate metal components according to production specifications, while maintaining a safe working environment.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned including completion of work order documentation and data entry into the computerized maintenance system
- Work together with, and sometimes, lead the operating crew to minimize downtime and maximize productivity
- Responsible for deciding how a mechanical repair is to proceed and will perform quality repairs timely and accurately.
- Work with the production team to constantly improve production and maintenance processes.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on the stamping presses, including lubrication, cleaning, and checking for wear and tear.
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and report more complex issues to maintenance supervision.
- Complete assigned tasks associated with tooling maintenance, die set assembly, and modifications on stamping-related processes; including preventative and predictive maintenance on these systems.
Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; 2-year college degree in Machine Shop preferred
- Previous experience as a stamping press set-up/operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Tool & Die Experience working on Progressive Dies is preferred.
- Experience operating manual conventional lathes, conventional mills, surface grinders, and all related machine shop equipment is required.
- Knowledge of different types of stamping dies and their applications.
- Minimum of five years industrial/maintenance machinist experience OR a four-year apprenticeship certification (Machinist or Tool & Die Maker required)
- Experience in press repair and general equipment breakdown maintenance is preferred but not required
- Understanding of Predictive Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance practices is a plus
