Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced pastry cook to be responsible for crafting delicious desserts and confectionery and preparing standard recipes for the pastry section of our kitchen. You should be passionate about baking and be inspired to create masterpieces that go beyond our guest's expectations.
To be successful in this role you must be well-versed in the culinary arts and adhere to strict standards of hygiene and cleanliness. This is an hourly management position.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the executive and sous chefs to ensure a successful working environment.
- Preparing ingredients and handling baking and other kitchen equipment.
- Creating pastries, baked goods, and confections, by following a set recipe.
- Decorating pastries and desserts to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation.
- Meeting with Executive Chef and team members to discuss details and planning of custom-made desserts and pastries for special events.
- Monitoring inventory.
- Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management.
Pastry Cook Requirements:
- Culinary school training advantageous.
- 2-3 years experience as a pastry cook.
- Strong team working and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and preparing and cooking food.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold.
- Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives.
