Community Connector
Serve as liaison between CJE SeniorLife and younger adults to create a high-functioning Associate Board that was largely inactive during Covid.
Work in conjunction with members of the Resource Development and Volunteer Services teams to identify opportunities for engagement in CJE’s programs and services.
Oversight of Associate Board meetings, fundraising and volunteer activities designed to broaden and deepen the younger adults’ connection to CJE .
Resource Development
Responsible for the management and implementation of the CJE’s Annual Giving program (direct mail, in-kind donations, workplace giving, and online giving).
Work with VP-Resource Development and Director of Development to establish long term goals and objectives, to strategize for the annual campaign, and all other fundraising efforts.
Cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from individuals in the $1,000 to $5,000 range by maintaining frequent contact with current donors and developing new relationships with prospects.
Work on special stewardship projects including thank you letters, holiday card mailings, support for donor recognition events, personal calls to donors, etc.
Research individual donor and prospect information utilizing Research Point and Target Analytics.
Develop strategies for new donor acquisition and growth for direct mail, online giving and social media campaigns.
Responsible for coordination and targeting of donors for direct mailings sent annually. Prepare an analysis of the mailings each fiscal year.
Manage ongoing campaigns to sell/advertise tribute card packets and individual cards. Work in coordination with the Marketing Department for designs and research new ideas for selling tribute cards.
Implement in-house United Way and Jewish United Fund Appeal. Work closely with JUF and United Way Liaisons. Send final reports to agencies at the close of the appeals.
Partner with various CJE departments that have events/programming scheduled and invite your portfolio of donors to the programs to enhance their knowledge of all that CJE does with hopes of increased donations.
Assist the Marketing Department in the creation of external content and collateral for the Development Department, including but not limited to appeals, newsletters, social media, website, and invitations.
Work closely with the Resource Development Committee as well as the Board of Directors on various tasks throughout the year.
Celebrate CJE Gala
Work with Senior Systems Analyst, Celebrate CJE Ad Book co-chairs and Board members to send solicitation emails for the procurement of ads and perform all follow-up functions
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Work independently, but with guidance from Director of Development to re-establish, develop, grow, and manage all programming for CJE’s Associate Board members. Recruit new membership, advance community engagement, plan social and fundraising events, build awareness and enhance the next generation.
Identify potential Associate Board members who are ready to move onto the Board of Directors.
Other duties related to the Annual gala may be assigned.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience working with Boards, direct mail and face to face solicitations.
Capable of producing quality work, in a high volume, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Strong planning/organizational skills: prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; develops realistic action plans.
Strong verbal and written communication skills: writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information; ability to speak effectively with individuals in person/on the phone as well as before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully; develops alternative solutions, works well under pressure.

Knowledge of the Chicago Jewish community and passion for not-for-profit work, particularly the older adult market.
Education and/or Experience:
BA/BS from a four-year college or university, minimum 3+ years’ experience in development/fundraising and young adult engagement.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Outlook, social media, Excel, Raisers Edge or database/development software, contact management systems; internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software.
