Job Description
The School of Supply Chain, Logistics, & Maritime Operations ( SCLMO ) at Old Dominion University ( ODU ) invite applications for tenure track/tenured positions (depending on experience) to begin in Fall 2025 as part of a three-position hiring initiative for Shipbuilding & Ship Repair. The appointed faculty will perform teaching, research, and service and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ( DEI ).
This interdisciplinary hiring initiative between SCLMO and the Frank Batten College of Engineering & Technology ( BCET ) supports ODU’s areas of strategic emphasis, specifically focusing on on-demand manufacturing, supply chain/industry/manufacturing 4.0, and/or shipyard digitization. Pursuant to that, we seek candidates with a strong research track record in one or more of the following areas:
+ Supply Chain Management.
+ Operations Management.
+ Maritime Cybersecurity.
+ Logistics.
+ Digital Shipbuilding.
+ Defense Manufacturing.
Additional research interest areas include:
+ Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.
+ Digital Twins.
+ Ship Repair.
+ Maintenance Design.
+ Stochastic Simulation.
+ Multi-Criterion Decision Modeling.
+ Predictive Analytics.
+ Reliability Engineering, to include the logistics of multiple supply chains impacting shipbuilding and repair.

Old Dominion University was founded in 1930. In preparation for our centennial anniversary, the institution initiated the Centennial Cluster Initiative, a hiring program designed to hire interdisciplinary clusters of faculty around emerging themes. As the first step of that initiative, we seek to hire 25 scholars who can contribute to the university’s growing research and teaching portfolio in the area of artificial intelligence. Those scholars will be housed in departments across campus and work together on scholarly activities related to artificial intelligence.

Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications
+ Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Business, Engineering, or another closely related field by the time of appointment. ABD candidates whose degree will be conferred before the start of their appointment will be considered for Assistant Professor appointments.
+ The academic background to warrant a tenure track or tenured position the School of Supply Chain, Logistics, & Maritime Operations.
+ A valid security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, upon acceptance of the position.
Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
+ The ability to teach core courses in Supply Chain and Logistics Management.
+ A strong record of externally-funded research and publication, or the demonstrated potential to establish one. Candidates that would like to be considered for an appointment with tenure must have a strong established externally-funded research record in any combination of the research areas listed in the Job Description.
+ A record of publications in peer-reviewed journal. Candidates applying for senior faculty appointments will be expected to transfer existing projects, when feasible, upon appointment.
+ Demonstrated passion for student success, recruitment, and retention.
