Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Engineer Intern will work under the guidance of Manufacturing Engineers to support the production of precision inkjet printheads. Collaborate with engineers and technicians in a manufacturing environment that includes clean room and assembly floor areas. Apply knowledge of engineering principles and problem solving to develop safety, quality, process, tooling and equipment improvements. Document experiments and procedures with the opportunity to communicate to all levels of the organization.

- Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Builds stable working relationships internally.

- Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
EXPERIENCE:
- Typically requires no previous professional experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide hands on technical support to a manufacturing production line
- Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes using LEAN methods
- Improve ergonomics and safety concerns
- Create and revise engineering documentation
- Communicate at all levels
- Support introduction of new products and technology into production
- Create and modify bill-of-material (BOM) structures
- Train production personnel
- Evaluate product and tooling to support Engineering and Material Review Board
- Monitor and develop standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:
- Pursuing a course of studies in the Engineering discipline or other technical area
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Advanced math and computational skills
- Perform work independently to meet deadlines
- Apply advanced reasoning skills to analyze and solve applications problems
- Organize, conduct, and summarize experiments
- Perform statistical analysis
- Understand the importance of safety in the workplace
DESIRED:
- Inkjet experience
- 3D solid modeling and 2D drafting in SOLIDWORKS
- Familiarity with engineering change process and revision control
- SAP or ERP system exposure
- Visual Basic programming

- May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.
