Temple B'nai Or is the largest and oldest Reform Jewish congregation in Morris County. We are a diverse, welcoming community always looking to improve and better serve our members. Some liken us to an urban synagogue in a suburban setting. We are looking for the right person to bring their special skills to our team to help us build sacred community, engage members, and grow!
The Temple Membership Engagement & Development Manager will work with our Senior Staff, Board, and lay leaders to help strengthen our commitment to relational Judaism and our laser focus on people in all that we do. They will help engage our members in programs, constituent groups, volunteer activities and philanthropic giving in ways that are meaningful to them and our Temple community.
The Manager will use their exemplary relationship-building skills to connect to our Temple community and foster and grow member engagement. They will serve as a social connector to our members. This new, full-time position includes occasional evening and weekend responsibilities and works in collaboration with and reports to the Executive Director.

You love working with people, creating Jewish community, and cultivating relationships among people at all life stages. You possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills, understand and appreciate Jewish and synagogue culture, and have donor relations experience.

- Have exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to relate effectively with clergy, staff, lay leadership, volunteers, and all members of a Jewish congregation. Are able to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing and developing tasks while following through on short- and long-term responsibilities. Handle confidential and sensitive matters with maturity, discretion, diplomacy, and professionalism. Are empathic and understanding when interacting with congregants and help them feel valued for their ideas, passions, gifts, and skills. Thrive in a team environment, but are a self-starter who thinks strategically and can produce and implement detail-oriented plans. Are proficient with contact relationship management systems (e.g., ShalomCloud, ShulCloud, Salesforce), the complete Microsoft Office suite, calendar management systems, Email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, ConstantContact), and experience with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram)
