Temp to Hire Senior Grants Accountant - Ledgent Finance & Accounting

A growing nonprofit organization in the Baltimore City area is seeking a contract to hire senior grants accountant
Responsibilities:
- Manage the financial aspects of grants, including budget development, forecasting, and tracking expenses.
- Ensure compliance with grant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with program managers and grant writers to develop accurate budgets and ensure adherence to grant guidelines.
- Process accounts payable and manage expense allocations for grant-funded programs.
- Review and analyze grant expenditures to ensure accuracy and proper coding.
- Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors on a timely basis.
- Participate in the audit process and provide necessary documentation and support.
- Monitor revenue and expenses for grant-funded programs and identify any discrepancies or variances.
- Utilize Excel and other financial software to analyze data and create reports.
- Stay updated on changes in grant regulations and communicate any updates to relevant staff members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant accounting and management.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and government regulations related to grants.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and other financial software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with grant audits and providing documentation and support.
- Detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy while working under tight deadlines.
