Short Description:
EEC in search of a motivated individual to provide high-level support to the Professional Qualifications Unit within the agency. The Specialist will work Monday through Friday during normal business hours at EEC s Boston office
Complete Description:
Detailed Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review requests for verification of EEC educator qualifications in accordance with EEC regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Review applications and documentation, return phone calls and e-mails.
- Issue confirmation of verification to successful applicants and notification letters to applicants that are not qualified.
- Review applications and documents to determine the appropriate level of qualification of the applicant.
- Review transcripts to confirm required education has been completed.
- Review documented work experience to determine if it is aligned with the required frequency and duration and with the appropriate age group.
- Review any other required administrative data.
- Contact applicants for clarification.
- Write letters to applicants explaining unit decisions involving unusual qualifications;
- Submit application denials or other issues to supervisor with recommended resolutions;
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to understand, explain, and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, etc. governing teacher qualifications.
Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of information, to draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
Ability to gather information by examining records and documents.
Ability to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.
Ability to determine proper format and procedure for assembling items of information.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to prepare general reports.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral expression.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
Ability to deal tactfully with others.
Ability to adjust to varying or changing situations to meet emergent or changing program requirements.
Ability to exercise sound judgment.
Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
