About the Job
Main Functions: The Technical Sales Representative will play a key role in driving sales growth by providing technical expertise and support throughout the sales process. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, sales skills, and customer service to effectively communicate the value of products and solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers to understand their needs, provide tailored solutions, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Technical Support: Provide technical guidance and support to customers, helping them understand product specifications, capabilities, and potential applications.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand market share.
- Customer Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers, understanding their needs and providing customized solutions.
Product Presentations: Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions for customers and prospects.
Proposal Development: Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotations, and sales contracts that align with customer requirements.
Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, competitor products, and customer feedback to identify new business opportunities.
Project Management: Manage the sales process from initial contact to project delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction and timely completion of projects.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and R&D teams to develop solutions that meet customer needs and resolve technical issues.
Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline updates in CRM systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proven experience in technical sales, preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sector with mechanical engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, products, and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Must have 3D modeling skills, preferably SolidWorks experience.
- Self-motivated with strong problem solving skills and a results oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers and attend trade shows or industry events.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, using exceptional listening, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, and a passport is desirable.
15-25% travel is required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks) software or other technical design tools.
- Familiarity with ISO and other relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Previous experience in sales of building products and customer relationships.
- Proficient MS Office Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- 3 - 5 years of mechanical design; 2 - 3 years of sales, manufacturing experience a plus. Experience in plastics, extrusion, injection molding, packaging, thermoplastics, polyolefins, polymers, HDPE, LLDPE, polyethylene or polypropylene would be a plus.
