Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmaceutical Coating Technical Leader to join our Life Sciences business at our Wilmington Research Center in Delaware. This position will report to the Global OSD Leader.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage pharmaceutical film coating technical service and new product development team
- Develop innovative Aquarius™ Film Coating systems to address the unmet needs in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.
- Visit customers to expand opportunities for Aquarius™ products, resolve customer technical and scale up issues and provide appropriate technical seminars supporting commercial initiatives.
- Experienced in developing oral solid dose products, manufacturing, scale-up, including an operational understanding of wet and dry granulation equipment, hot melt extrusion, spray drying, tablet presses, encapsulation, film coating etc.
- Lead, design, and execute research activities, technical presentations, posters, and papers for internal and external customers at customer sites, scientific conferences, and trade shows.
- Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing goals and focusing on performance and safety
- Train and work with junior scientists and technicians
- Partner with Aquarius™ Pharmaceutical Coating business Leader to innovate and grow business.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar.
- 5-10 years prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or similar.
- Fundamental understanding of pharmaceutical product development and Hands-on experience with oral solid dosage forms and polymer technologies.
- Demonstrated hand-on expertise in tablet coating.
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills to share development work within the organization and with customers.
- Proven successful experience in leading a small group of direct reports
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel occasionally (about 20%) for customer meetings or plant trials.
- Be authorized to work in the United States

- Demonstrated experience working within multicultural and multifunction environment.
- Strong written, oral presentation, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical
