The F/A-18 Legacy Team Hornet is looking for a qualified person to perform the tasks described below as the Communication and Navigation Product Systems Engineer. This individual will need to have a broad spectrum of experience and the ability to take a holistic view of the aircraft as a system, to include an understanding of: systems engineering; aircraft subsystems; risk analysis and management; basic aircraft performance; safety and reliability for the Legacy SCS Blocks.
Tasks include estimating, budgeting, executing, and managing multi-year, multi-million dollar program(s) while delivering on time, within cost, and with the required functionality and capability. The Product Systems Engineer shall use existing DOD, Navy, NAVAIR, F/A-18 & EA-18G IPT processes and procedures to execute the program(s) and will work closely with the Release Management Team.Ideal candidates are highly motivated individuals with a technical and/or program management background in leading or managing technical programs.
Essential Job Functions:
Ensuring all life cycle phase activities occur and are completed following established systems engineering practices and using a cross functional multi-disciplined team
Advising the SCS Block Manager and AWL Leadership on the cost, schedule, and technical aspects of the SCS
Working with the teams to analyze SCS requirements and aircraft configurations in relation to key design drivers and decisions; aircraft attributes and subsystems; as well as operational employment
Providing cost, schedule, and technical input for the acceptance or rejection of all submitted Statements of Requirements (SORs) and Impact Assessments (IAs)
Ensure the needs and objectives of an SCS are expressed in mission terms
Ensure a clearly written requirements document and concept of operation are developed and used by the Design Agent and development team in developing and testing the system
Oversee the technical integrity of the system through a disciplined approach to requirements development, ensuring design requirements are traceable
Ensure system definition and design reflects the requirements for all system elements: hardware, software, facilities, people and data
Ensuring hazards related to the SCS are identified, documented, dispositioned, and any residual risks, which remain at the end of development, are reviewed and accepted by the appropriate authority
Participating in SCS Milestones, development team meetings and other technical meetings as required
Reviewing technical documentation to ensure subsystem and system level correctness
Ensuring technical documentation is developed per AWL standards, contractual requirements, and is archived in ELIS
Oversight and coordination with the Project Officer and the Test Director in the test planning and execution of the SCS
Assisting in the analysis and disposition of SAR fixes as the SCS is developed
Communicating work to be accomplished and assist the SCS Block Manager in communicating execution progress to various stakeholders, FMS customers, and AWL Leadership
Working with development team, the SCS Block Manager and AWL Leadership in the Risk Management process to include characterizing risks, developing risk mitigation plans, and helping to manage these risks throughout the SCS development cycle
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor's degree with 2 plus years in an engineering discipline is required.
Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
The individual must have strong communication skills that are necessary to effectively coordinate integration and certification activities across multiple engineering disciplines and support organizations.
Must have working knowledge and experience in the handling and distribution of classified material.
Must have experience with requirements decomposition and system architect design.
Minimal travel is required.
Desired Skills:

Knowledge of Link-16 networks and capability is highly desired.
