Qualifications: Minimum five (5) years K-12 classroom teaching expereience andPASpecial Education Certification
PrimaryFunction: The primary function of this role is to manage and provide oversight for both the district's online learning programs and the related special programs across K-12 buildings, ensuring alignment with district digital programs and goals, and the effective use of data- driven interventions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as liaison between the school and our online programming partner for MNSD students enrolled in MNSD’s cyber school program.
- Regularly collaborates with the pupil services team, including the Home & School Visitor, Counselors, and Supervisors of Special Education, to ensure student needs are met in the online environment.
- Ensures compliance with School and District procedures, including special education services, and policies in the online environment.
- Case management duties for special education services for MNSD’s online school - MN ConnectED, including authoring and implementing IEP and 504 documents.
- In collaboration with building counselors and principals, manage virtual student attendance, work completion, grades, and graduation requirements.
- Initiates and collaborates in the development and implementation of long-range comprehensive planning for the district’s online and virtual programming.
- Plans and implements professional learning programs that reflect best practices in online and digital teaching and learning.
- Supports, in collaboration with the Supervisors of Teaching & Learning, the digitization of all District curriculum through the District’s Learning Management System.
- Supports, in collaboration with the Supervisors of Teaching & Learning, the creation of summer online learning opportunities.
- Collaborates with the Supervisors of Teaching & Learning on Artificial Intelligence initiatives to enhance instructional strategies and educational outcomes.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Dual Enrollment Programs: Collaborates with MNSD Administration and counselors on dual enrollment opportunities with local colleges and universities, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit.
- Academic Programs: Manages online and in-person learning opportunities for all learners, including gifted education, honors, or other accelerated programs.
- Credit Recovery: Collaborates with MNSD Administration and counselors to monitor and schedule missed credits or learning opportunities that are needed to be successful in the next grade level, course, or to attain graduation credits.
- Digital Literacy and Technology Integration Support: Helping students and staff develop digital literacy skills and ensuring that technology is effectively integrated into the classroom. Providing professional development to staff on the topic of digital literacy.
- Online Tutoring Services: Implementing and managing virtual tutoring platforms outside of regular classroom instruction that provide additional academic support.
- Student Success Monitoring Systems: Overseeing systems that track student progress in areas such as attendance, behavior, and academics to provide timely interventions before issues escalate.
- Home School Program: Supports K-12 students in the Home School Program and serving as the primary teacher of contact for staff, students, and families.
- Cyber Programs: Managing the MNSD cyber program and serving as the primary MNSD teacher contact for staff, students, and families.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates initiative to further the District’s mission and
- Keeps the Director of Pupil Services and Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning informed of the school’s successes and challenges.
- Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
- Follows guidelines and standards for proper student conduct and maintaining student
- Asserts leadership in times of civil disobedience in school in accordance with established Board policy.
