A Brief Overview
Assists Group Teachers in the administration of daily classroom activities.
What you will do
- Assists in planning and implementing curriculum.
- Maintains supplies on shelves including: paper towels, diapers, art supplies, etc. Informs Teacher when stocks are low.
- Maintains a clean, healthy environment which includes daily washing of toys, disinfecting countertops, sweeping, vacuuming floor and rugs as well as garbage removal.
- Maintains open communication with parents and relates parent inquiries/concerns to the Teacher.
- Assists children with toileting needs which includes lifting child to diaper. Assists children at meals and snacks including food preparation.
- Attends meetings and special Center events.
- Observes and monitors children’s activities to ensure physical safety.
- Engages in physical activities with children.
- Other physical requirements include lifting, bending, kneeling and sitting on floor with children.
- Flexible in nature to work various hours and room assignments according to the Center’s needs.
- Maintains and respects confidentiality.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Follows policies and procedures as outlined in the NJ Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers.
- Maintains a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral and emotional issues and reporting concerns to the teacher.
- Completes yearly training requirements as stated in the NJ Manual of Requirements for Child Care Center.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years Minimum of one year experience working with children. Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be familiar with operations in a child care setting.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with parents and staff.
Licenses and Certifications
- CDA-Child Development Associate CDA required after 1 year of employment (if no degree) within 1 Year Required and
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation AHA within 90 Days Required and
- First Aid Certification Certifications are within 90 Days Required
