We’re in search of a Tax Supervisor to join our team in our Rockville, MD office. The Tax Supervisor plans the logistics of the engagement including the work to be performed by other offices. This position requires a CPA license and acts in a junior leadership role, setting an ethical and technical example for direct reports and colleagues.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate the various phases of an engagement, including staff requirements, client meetings, and job planning and scheduling with the manager or partner
- Routinely assume full responsibility for directing engagements and special assignments
- Act as the lead production contact with clients during the engagement
- Support the training of other technical staff and manage direct reports as needed
- Complete preparation of more complex tax returns, reviewing easy to medium returns and researching technical issues
- Aid business development with clients and non-clients to expand our practice, and beginning to develop prospects
- Learns and upholds the firm’s expectations for work quality and professional development as well as the firm’s cultural and core values
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and CPA certification required with a minimum of 4-6 years public accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of tax law and other professional standards/regulations
- Experience preparing less complex returns for S-Corporations, C-Corporations, LLC’s, Partnerships, high wealth individuals, consolidated or multi-state returns and nonprofits
- Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
